Message from the principal
Welcome to Cascade View Elementary School’s website. Here at Cascade View we have a dynamic staff that meets all the children’s academic as well as social/educational needs. As the Principal of Cascade View, it’s my job to ensure that each student is taught at their instructional level, progress is monitored continually, and instructional strategies are varied so that progress towards established standards are meant. The students here at Cascade View are working very hard to achieve their goals and meet those established standards.
As I enter my 9th year as Principal of Cascade View Elementary, I am very excited to be a part of this community again and look forward to meeting the needs of all our students. Although M.S.P. scores have not been finalized yet, I feel we are on the right course for success and I anticipate that the new assessment data will support that conclusion.
The staff at Cascade View Elementary School, and in the Tukwila School District, work hard every day to provide an outstanding education for your children. The district will continue to implement Early Release Wednesdays. On these days, staff will meet after the dismissal of students to work together consistently, without interruption, to dig deep into student assessments, and to plan for powerful instruction based on best practices.
Safety is an essential component to a successful school community. Attached to this letter is Cascade View’s daily drop off and pick up procedures. Please review the procedures and incorporate these guidelines into your daily interaction with our school. We need everyone to follow these guidelines each and every day so that staff can ensure the safety of each student as they enter and exit the school campus. All it takes is one adult to ignore these guidelines to put our children at risk of injury on or around the school’s campus. I appreciate your commitment in keeping our students safe!
We are very proud that all of the teachers at Cascade View are deemed “highly qualified”. In fact, many of our teachers exceed the requirements for being considered “highly qualified”, as most have advanced degrees and many have done the course work to be E.L.L. endorsed. You may request the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher(s) by contacting Cascade View Elementary School. We will provide you with the information as soon as possible upon your request.
We know that you all have busy lives, but children feel more supported and engaged when their parents participate in the school. There are several ways that you can support your student and the school community. For example, you can volunteer in your child’s classroom, chaperone field trips, or become an active member of the P.T.O. My goal for the 2014-2015 school year and in the future, is to have a more active Parent/Teacher Organization (P.T.O.), but I will need your assistance to do this. We are actively recruiting parents for leadership roles within the organization. In doing so, we ensure that the P.T.O. functions at a high level and is able to meet the demands of the school community as a whole. If you are interested in a leadership position on the Cascade View P.T.O., please contact me and I can assist you in that process. This work is very important and needs committed, capable parents such as yourselves so that together, we can get the job done.
A new school year is underway with high expectations for all students. The staff at Cascade View appreciates your support and we are looking forward to strengthening the partnership that is continuing to grow as more of you become active participants in your student’s education.
