Greetings Cascade View Families,

Welcome to the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year at Cascade View Elementary! I am looking forward to welcoming our amazing learning community back for the first day of school on Thursday,  September 1, 2022. The school day will begin at 8:50am. We have two goals this year:

  • Goal 1 is creating a culture of equity, trust, honesty, respect, and positive relationships.
  • Goal 2 is developing a clear focus on engaging students through the design of instruction through curriculum, experiences, work, and supports to ensure student achievement. These are the goals that we as a learning community will be reflective on throughout this school year.

We believe in communication to support all students and families. We recognize that learning is a partnership and we welcome and value your communication and support. We as a school are committed to providing learning opportunities that are engaging for all students to learn and reflect. Our open house will be held on Wednesday, September 14th from 5:30 -6:30 p.m. We encourage you to share with your student’s teacher their hobbies and interests. You can expect ongoing communication from your student’s teacher updating you about your student’s goals, learning activities, and assessments. We welcome you to volunteer and share your expertise in the classroom or at our PTO meetings. Please contact your student’s teacher or contact us in the front office at 206-901-7000. Please view the Tukwila School District website for important school and district information.

You can expect our learning community to work collaboratively in aligning with the district priorities and actively integrating culturally responsive, social emotional, and anti-racist practices. Our reflection will include the following: How are we implementing student voice? How are we implementing formative and summative assessments? Are the lesson plans allowing equitable student learning? How are we giving timely feedback to students and families? How are we supporting Race and Equity in conversation, lesson planning, assessment, and the learning environment? Calibration on how do we know if we have achieved these goals and what are our next steps if we are not achieving these goals? This work will take place through professional learning communities (PLCs), reading materials, activities, self-care, and weekly lesson planning reflections.

Please join me in thanking the Cascade View staff for all of the preparation to begin the school year. I recognize the dedication in creating the collaborative learning environment to support all students' goals as we welcome our CV Cougars back into the classroom. I appreciate you all and your ongoing commitment to communication and partnership with families. Here’s to an outstanding school year as we as a learning community partner together for Cascade View to be a place of joyful teaching and learning everyday. Go CV Cougars!
